Evesham Historical Society

The Evesham Historical Society operates the Vale of Evesham History Portal. The town of Evesham is on the bank of the River Avon and is the capital of the vale of Evesham. Which is between the Malverns and Bredon Hill? You have the Cotswold’s on the one side and on the other side if the heart of England. The vale surrounds the medieval abbey that was founded in 701 AD by Saint Ecgwin.

All about the Vale of Evesham

The Vale of Evesham is an area known for its orchards and produce. They have for many centuries supported many communities and have thrived on their very fertile soil. The Vale includes land in South Worcestershire, and Warwickshire, and also north Gloucestershire.  They have heave or light industry usually with agricultural and horticulture.  Which includes fruit farms, market gardening and livestock? With the sheltered climate and light soils the Vale was very abundant in vegetable production. The Vale is also served by a 150 year old Cotswold railway which used to be known as the Oxford, Wolverhamptom and Worcester railway.

About the Evesham Historical Society

The Evesham Historical Society is responsible to watch over the Vale of Evesham and its surrounding communities.  It was founded in 1951 as a local history club. They have headquarters in Evesham Almonry Heritage Center. Which is managed by the Evesham Town Council with the help of the Evesham Historical Society? They meet every Thursday at 7:30pm at the Almonry. They are used as an educational center, and help with work on the archaeological projects that the Worcestershire County Archaeological service oversees.  They also publish books locally and monographs on topics of history to those who are interested.
